By Defence Industry Europe

On August 16, the Dutch Ministry of Defence announced that it has signed a contract with the leading Israeli defence company Elbit Systems for C-UAS systems, which will be delivered to the Dutch Armed Forces.

The name of the C-UAS system ordered by the Dutch Ministry of Defence has not been disclosed, and the value of the deal remains undisclosed as well.

However, the Dutch Ministry of Defence stated that the new C-UAS systems will be capable of protecting against small unmanned aerial vehicles with a weight of up to 20kg.

The ministry mentioned that the new C-UAS system consists of special sensors intended to detect, classify, and identify drones. Moreover, the system is capable of neutralizing the drones using soft-kill measures, likely including jammers and electronic warfare systems.

The systems to be delivered by Elbit Systems will be deployed in all airbases of the Dutch Armed Forces and at the Den Helder naval base as well, as stated by the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

Furthermore, the Dutch ministry announced plans to form a special counter-drone unit within the structure of the Dutch Armed Forces. This unit will be equiped with new C-UAS systems, which will be delivered by Elbit Systems.
