Exail wins landmark European defence deal for advanced DriX Uncrewed Surface Vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

French technology firm Exail has announced a major defence contract with a European nation for the delivery of five DriX H-8 Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). This order marks the largest to date for the DriX platform and a significant step forward in its operational use for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Originally designed for hydrographic missions, the DriX H-8 has evolved into a mature, multi-role USV capable of operating effectively in both shallow and deep waters. Its adaptability enables deployment across a broad spectrum of civilian and military maritime tasks.

The DriX platform has already been adopted by leading naval forces including the U.S. Navy and the French Navy. It has demonstrated its performance during multinational operations such as NATO’s REPMUS and Task Force X exercises.

“This contract highlights the growing strategic need for unmanned maritime ISR capabilities, and we are proud that DriX has been selected to meet that challenge,” said Jérôme Bendell, Head of Exail Maritime Systems Business Line. “It is also a recognition of DriX’s maturity, reliability and operational impact.”

Bendell added: “We are honoured by the trust placed in us by this European partner. At Exail, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation in support of global maritime security.”
