Finnish Defence Forces and Bittium Wireless sign long-term partnership agreement

Bittium Wireless Ltd, a subsidiary of Bittium Corporation, has signed a Partnership Agreement with the Finnish Defence Forces for the years 2025–2036. The agreement focuses on the lifecycle management and maintenance of command-and-control systems produced by Bittium and utilised by the Finnish Defence Forces.

Bittium Wireless Ltd, a subsidiary of Bittium Corporation, has signed a Partnership Agreement with the Finnish Defence Forces for the years 2025–2036. The agreement focuses on the lifecycle management and maintenance of command-and-control systems produced by Bittium and utilised by the Finnish Defence Forces.

 

The signing ceremony took place on Monday, 25 November 2024, in Tampere, Finland. Key signatories included Brigadier General Tero Ylitalo, Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, Colonel Jari Virolainen, Director of the Joint Systems Centre, Johan Westermarck, CEO of Bittium Corporation, and Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President of Defence & Security Business Segment.

The partnership aims to secure national competence and technologies for command-and-control systems deemed critical for Finland’s military security of supply. It also establishes a framework for collaborative wartime planning, ensuring operational readiness in various scenarios.

 

 

The monetary value of the agreement will vary annually, determined by the Finnish Defence Forces’ project requirements and funding. This includes agreed maintenance and development services to meet operational needs.

The collaboration underlines Finland’s commitment to strengthening its defence infrastructure through local partnerships. By ensuring the availability of cutting-edge technologies, the agreement reinforces national security and supports long-term defence planning.
