The PIRANHA HMC is engineered to meet the increasing demands of modern military missions, featuring advanced driveline and suspension technologies. Notably, it boasts a 10×10 all-wheel-drive power driveline and a unique multi-link suspension system. This system enables the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th axles to steer, allowing the vehicle to maintain minimum axle loads in compliance with European road regulations. This feature also enhances cross-country mobility and allows the vehicle to traverse trenches while maintaining a reduced turning cycle of less than 18 meters.
“The PIRANHA HMC is our answer to the evolving needs of our global customers, who require versatile and robust platforms for a variety of challenging missions,” said Dr. Thomas Kauffmann, GDELS Vice President for Global Sales & Services. He emphasized the vehicle’s suitability for tasks ranging from direct and indirect fire missions to air-defense and tactical bridging.
Giuseppe Chillari, Vice President Wheeled Vehicles & Managing Director at GDELS-Mowag, added, “This vehicle exemplifies our commitment to innovation and excellence, drawing on over 40 years of experience in the industry to meet the exacting standards of military users worldwide.”
With more than 12,000 units serving in over 20 countries, the PIRANHA family is the most successful wheeled armoured vehicle series in the Western world. The introduction of the PIRANHA HMC enriches a diverse lineup that already includes 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and amphibious variants, further solidifying GDELS’s position as a leader in military vehicle manufacturing.
