Germany announces comprehensive military aid package for Ukraine

By Defence Industry Europe

The German government has confirmed a substantial new military aid package for Ukraine, aimed at bolstering Ukraine's defence capabilities amidst ongoing war. This assistance includes a wide range of military equipment and munitions, reflecting Germany's continued support for Ukraine.

The aid package encompasses an extensive inventory, notably featuring 18,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition sourced from Bundeswehr stocks and German production lines. It also includes critical ammunition for Leopard 2A6 tanks, underscoring the commitment to support Ukraine’s armored capabilities.

In addition to munitions, Ukraine will benefit from advanced reconnaissance and surveillance equipment, with the delivery of 14 Vector model reconnaissance drones and 30 RQ-35 Heidrun type reconnaissance drones. These assets are expected to significantly enhance Ukraine’s situational awareness and operational intelligence capabilities.

The package also addresses the urgent need for engineering and recovery vehicles in combat environments. Ukraine will receive five Warthog tracked repair and recovery vehicles, nine Warthog tracked command vehicles, and a range of mine-clearing and engineering vehicles, including six WISENT 1 mine-clearing tanks and two BEAVER bridge-laying tanks. This support extends to armored recovery and engineering vehicles, aiming to ensure mobility and logistical support on the battlefield.

Additionally, the aid includes tactical and logistical support equipment, such as a SATCOM system, infrared cameras, and RGW90 grenade launchers, alongside essentials like camouflage nets, ponchos, and fuel tankers to sustain operations.
