“This will allow additional air defence systems, tanks, drones, ammunition and spare parts to be purchased to effectively strengthen the Ukrainian armed forces in the defence of their country,” said government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit.
The Budget Committee has also approved a Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) winter package worth 70 million euros for Ukraine’s heat and power supply.
The additional funds will enable the BMZ to provide Ukrainian towns and cities with small combined heat and power plants, boilers, generators and solar panels.
“We are supporting Ukraine in its efforts to rebuild a decentralised power supply infrastructure, as Russia will then not be able to destroy it so easily,” said German Development Minister Svenja Schulze.
