These tests confirm the Barak-8 system’s operational readiness for deployment across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Jointly developed by IAI and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the system is designed to provide multi-layered air and missile defence capabilities.
The Barak-8 system integrates advanced components including a multi-mission radar, command-and-control infrastructure, mobile launchers, and interceptor missiles with an operational range of up to 70 kilometres. It is intended to counter a wide range of aerial threats such as aircraft, helicopters, and incoming missiles.
To support the system’s long-term deployment in India, IAI has established local subsidiaries to provide ongoing maintenance and technological support. This local presence is aimed at ensuring the system’s operational availability and aligning with India’s defence self-reliance objectives.
