The agreement has an initial two-year term and includes an option for a further three years. Order volumes are not guaranteed, and purchases will be made through individual call-offs during the agreement period.
INVISIO won the contract through Simex Defence, its Canadian partner and a supplier of tactical communications and soldier systems. The framework covers the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Special Operations Forces Command.
“The Canadian Armed Forces are an important customer, and we are proud to support their communication requirements with proven and mission-critical solutions,” said Ray Clarke, INVISIO Senior Vice President Sales North America. “This agreement strengthens our position in the Canadian market and creates opportunities for additional business over the coming years.”
The agreement covers Racal Acoustics RA5100 tactical headsets and RA71 control units. It also includes associated cables, spare parts and sustainment services.
The systems provide active noise reduction, hearing protection and natural situational awareness for mounted and dismounted operations. INVISIO said they are designed to support interoperability across existing and future Canadian military radio fleets.
The equipment uses a software-defined architecture and simplified configuration management. INVISIO said this allows the capability to adapt to future mission requirements while maintaining compatibility across different communications systems.
The award followed a lengthy competitive procurement process, according to INVISIO. The final value will depend on the volume of equipment and services ordered by the Canadian Armed Forces through call-offs over the life of the agreement.
