Kongsberg signs deal for Naval Strike Missiles for U.S. Navy

By Defence Industry Europe

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS has received an order from Raytheon Missiles & Defense for Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) for the US Navy's Over-The-Horizon Weapon System (OTH WS) programme, valued at nearly EUR 115 million (NOK 1.3 billion), the company announced.

Raytheon is the primary contractor for the US Navy.

The order is in line with the OTH WS framework agreement announced on 31 May 2018. Kongsberg has secured orders totaling approximately EUR 263 million (NOK 3.1 billion).

“This is the largest NSM order the US Navy has placed to date. It will create jobs and generate increased production capacity for both us and our suppliers. As announced during Kongsberg’s CMD in June 2022, we have initiated a significant investment in a new missile factory that will be completed by June next year,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
