Kongsberg has secured a NOK 1.1 billion contract from General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada to supply additional Protector RS4 Remote Weapon Systems for the Canadian Army. The systems will be integrated onto Armoured Combat Support Vehicles, expanding an existing procurement for the same platform.

The contract is a follow-on order for the Canadian ACSV program. Kongsberg has previously supplied RS4 systems to GDLS-Canada for integration on the vehicles.

“This contract confirms our customer’s confidence in the Protector systems and further strengthens our long-term partnership with GDLS-Canada,” said Kjetil Reiten Myhra, Executive Vice President, Kongsberg and President of the Defence Systems division. “We are proud that the RS4 continues to be selected as a key capability for the Canadian Armed Forces’ modern vehicle fleet.”

The new order extends the established relationship between Kongsberg and GDLS-Canada. Kongsberg said the additional systems will expand and improve the operational capabilities of the Canadian Army.

The RS4 is part of Kongsberg’s Protector family of remotely operated weapon systems. It is designed to provide vehicle crews with protection, precision, situational awareness and operational flexibility.

Kongsberg said the RS4 can be integrated onto a wide range of military vehicle platforms. The system is already in service with defense customers worldwide.

The latest contract continues Canada’s procurement of the RS4 for its ACSV fleet. It also extends Kongsberg’s role as a remote weapon system supplier to General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada.
