L3Harris secures $292 million contract to produce Javelin propulsion over next five years

By Defence Industry Europe

L3Harris Technologies has received a contract worth up to $292 million to continue producing propulsion for the Javelin weapon system. The award is the company’s largest propulsion production contract to date for the programme and represents a five-year production extension.

“Javelin provides a key capability for the United States, allies and partners,” said Ken Bedingfield, President, Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris. “Our ongoing investments in modernized solid rocket motor manufacturing will allow us to increase production capacity for Javelin by incorporating the latest advancements in automation into the motor casting and installation processes.”

The company is working to expand solid rocket motor production across several programmes, including Javelin, through internal investments in manufacturing. This effort is also supported by a $215.6 million cooperative agreement signed with the Department of War.

L3Harris is introducing a fully digital workflow for Javelin production, enabling real-time data tracking. The company said this would provide improved quality monitoring and greater control over production speed.

As the sole producer of Javelin solid rocket motors, L3Harris plays a central role in the supply chain. The Javelin Joint Venture between Lockheed Martin and Raytheon manufactures the weapon system for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and international customers.
