The acquisition of these state-of-the-art vehicles continues Lithuania’s collaboration with the United States and aims to meet the operational needs of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Following the initial delivery of 200 JLTVs last year, Lithuania is set to receive an additional 300 units throughout 2025, bringing the total fleet to 500 vehicles.
The procurement of the JLTVs began in 2019 through a contract between the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence and the U.S. Government. These vehicles are being produced by U.S. manufacturer Oshkosh Defense and are designed to provide superior crew protection and enhance operational efficiency.
Lithuania’s JLTVs will be equipped with the RBS70 NG short-range air defence system, which was acquired in 2024 and is expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2027. This integration will significantly improve the country’s ability to defend against airborne threats and strengthen its overall defence infrastructure.
With their advanced capabilities in intelligence, artillery, and air support operations, the JLTVs will play a crucial role in enhancing Lithuania’s military readiness. The delivery of these vehicles also supports the development of closer interoperability between the Lithuanian and U.S. armed forces.
