Lockheed Martin has been named prime contractor for U.S. Special Operations Command’s next-generation logistics and sustainment support program, the company said. The $10.5 billion, 12-year contract covers Special Operations Forces Global Logistics Support Services II, or GLSS2.

The award is a competitive follow-on to earlier special operations logistics contracts managed by Lockheed Martin since 2010. The company said the program is intended to provide sustainment and life-cycle management that support rapid deployment and mission overmatch for U.S. Special Operations Forces.

Under the new contract, Lockheed Martin will continue daily logistics and sustainment activities for USSOCOM. The work includes support for a global supply chain of parts, warehouses and depots, along with aircraft, vehicle and equipment repair, maintenance and modifications.

The contract also covers critical infrastructure support and business process transformation. Lockheed Martin described the award as part of a broader Department of War investment to rebuild the “Arsenal of Freedom.”

“Lockheed Martin is deeply honored to stand beside the men and women of our Special Operations Forces,” said Vic Torla, vice president, Lockheed Martin SOF GLSS. “For more than 16 years, our teams have relentlessly delivered the logistics and sustainment expertise required to accomplish our nation’s most critical missions.”

“We recognize the urgency of every operation, and our dedicated personnel, parts, and services are positioned to meet the SOF warfighter’s needs,” Torla said. “Building on the proven success with the SOF CLSS and SOF GLSS programs, we are poised to further transform SOF logistics worldwide, ensuring our exceptional operators always have what they need, when they need it.”

Lockheed Martin said SOF GLSS2 is USSOCOM’s largest service contract vehicle. The program provides mission-critical services to the U.S. Special Operations community, including aircraft and vehicle maintenance, information technology support and electronics support.

The Lockheed Martin-led Global Logistics Support Services team includes numerous subcontractor partners that provide capabilities for special operations forces. The company said those partners are intended to help ensure the forces receive the highest possible level of support.

Lockheed Martin SOF GLSS is based at Bluegrass Station in Lexington, Kentucky, and employs more than 3,300 people worldwide. The company said it continues to expand sustainment and logistics services to military and government agencies globally through a network of personnel, facilities, suppliers and partners supporting around-the-clock operations.
