Marshall completes delivery of 201 specialised containers for the Royal Netherlands Army

By Defence Industry Europe

Marshall, a British defence and aerospace company, has successfully delivered the final container under the Netherlands Specialised Containers (NLSC) programme. This milestone concludes a production run of 201 containers across five configurations, designed to support the Royal Netherlands Army's global missions.

The £31 million contract, a collaboration with Materieellogistiek Commando (MatLogCo), aimed to provide specialised containers for transporting and storing critical military supplies and equipment. The project highlights the strength of Marshall’s global organisation, with contributions from facilities in the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands.

The containers were designed and engineered through a partnership between Marshall’s UK team and Contour Advanced Systems, a high-tech engineering specialist based in the Netherlands. System integration was handled by Marshall’s production facility in Moncton, Canada, and Contour, with additional support from Visser Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.

Marshall’s Deployable Infrastructure Director, Carl Forey, described the completion of the NLSC programme as a proud achievement, praising the collaboration with MatLogCo. He emphasised Marshall’s commitment to ongoing support, which will include training, documentation, spares, and field engineering services.

Bas Grotegoed, Project Manager at MatLogCo, expressed satisfaction with the project’s realisation, commending the quality and reliability of Marshall’s work. He acknowledged the dedication of the teams involved across the UK, Netherlands, and Canada.

Looking ahead, Marshall will provide post-delivery maintenance and support for the NLSC containers for a minimum of 12 years. This phase ensures the long-term reliability and operational readiness of the specialised containers.

In addition to NLSC, Marshall is also fulfilling a contract under the Defensiebrede Vervanging Operationele Wielvoertuigen (DVOW) programme. This includes the delivery of deployable container systems for the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation, covering command and control, medical systems, workshops, and basic stores units, alongside a comprehensive support programme.

Marshall’s expertise extends beyond containers, as demonstrated by their work for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The company recently completed safety upgrades for the Air Force’s fleet of four C-130H aircraft, showcasing its commitment to integrated engineering and operational excellence.
