Mercury Systems and Cicor agree supply deal to support growth in Europe

By Defence Industry Europe

Mercury Systems, Inc., a US-based technology company specialising in mission-critical processing power, has announced a strategic supply agreement with the Swiss-based Cicor Group. Under the deal, Cicor will acquire Mercury’s manufacturing operation in Plan-Les-Ouates, Switzerland, and supply electronic products to Mercury over a five-year period.

Mercury Mission Systems International S.A., a key provider of processing solutions for the international aerospace and defence industry, is preparing for increased global demand for its commercial defence products. As part of this strategy, the company will transfer its Swiss electronic board manufacturing operations to Cicor, a leading European manufacturer for aerospace and defence electronics.

This transition will enable Mercury’s facilities in Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom to concentrate on engineering design and systems integration. The company expects this focus to support its ongoing growth and strengthen its position in the international market.

The transaction is expected to close within a month, subject to standard closing conditions including customer approvals. Production will be relocated to Cicor’s sites in Newport, United Kingdom, and Bronschhofen, Switzerland, over the next 18 months.

Mercury will continue to purchase boards from Cicor as well as from its operations in the United States to maintain a resilient and diversified supply chain. Both companies plan to further expand their strategic partnership in the future.

“Mercury remains dedicated to delivering mission-critical processing capabilities to the European and global aerospace and defense sector,” said Paul Tanner, Vice President of Mercury International. “This agreement with Cicor will allow us to scale quickly to meet the growing demand for leading-edge commercial processing technologies around the world.”
