The government of Norway has already delivered eight Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Norwegian Armed Forces announced on March 21.

Prior to the transfer of tanks to Ukraine, Norway has 36 Leopard 2A4 MBTs in its arsenal.

According to the Norwegian Armed Forces, in addition to Leopard 2A4 tanks, Norway has already delivered four support vehicles to Ukraine.

Norway also allocated funds for the purchase of ammunition and spare parts for the Leopard 2A4 tanks donated to Ukraine.

“It is important for Norwegian and European security that Russia does not win with its aggression against Ukraine,” said Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

As Defence Industry Europe reported, earlier this month the Ministry of Defence of Norway announced that it would provide Ukraine with two complete fire units of the NASAMS air defence system.

Norway is increasing the capabilities of its land forces. In February this year, the government of Norway decided to purchase 54 Leopard 2A7 main battle tanks from German defence company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The delivery of the first new tank to Norway is expected in 2026.
