The package includes Kongsberg Protector RS4 remote weapon stations. It also covers training, support and spare parts.
Norway secured options for another 40 command vehicles and RS4 systems. The purchase was made through the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System programme.
Jussi Järvinen, executive vice-president of Patria’s Protected Mobility business, said: “Norway’s procurement is another important step in strengthening common protected mobility capabilities in the Nordics and across the wider CAVS community.” He added: “For Norway and the Nordic countries, CAVS offers a concrete way to deepen defence cooperation and security of supply while delivering modern capability quickly.”
The programme uses shared requirements and common equipment. This approach is intended to improve interoperability, simplify logistics and reduce life-cycle support demands.
Gro Jære, director of the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, said: “For Norway, this represents more than an investment in materiel.” She added: “It is part of our continued efforts to strengthen operational capability, enhance interoperability with our allies, and contribute to a more sustainable and efficient development of defence capabilities.”
CAVS was launched in 2020 around the Patria 6×6 armoured vehicle. Its members are Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Vehicles have been delivered to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark and Germany. Patria 6×6 vehicles are also operational in Ukraine.
The programme supports joint procurement, coordinated product development and shared life-cycle management. It remains open to European and NATO countries with similar requirements for 6×6 armoured vehicles.
