The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) supports the Spanish Navy through a contract awarded to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace for the delivery of Naval Strike Missiles (NSM). The first ship class to be equipped with NSM is the F-110 class frigate, which is currently under construction by Navantia. The missiles are intended to be deployed on the F-100 frigates during their Mid-Life Update, as well as on future ships.

A representative from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) Procurement division stated: “We are pleased to contribute to the delivery of a new capability for the Spanish Navy and NATO as a whole and are honored having been entrusted this critical tasking through NSPA’s Ammunition Support Partnership. We aim to serve as inspiration for other nations to join the NSM user group.”

The contract, through the Ammunition Support Partnership, is expected to provide a regional foothold for the Spanish Navy missile programs and to further contribute to international cooperation among NATO members using NSM.
