Patria Land Oy and Valmet Automotive have agreed to collaborate on technology transfer for the manufacturing of armoured vehicles and on producing the first units under the new arrangement. The cooperation begins immediately and will see the first Patria vehicles manufactured at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki facility in the second half of 2026.

Both companies confirmed that the commercial value of the collaboration will not be disclosed. Patria stated that the partnership supports the company’s need for additional production capacity despite current output levels meeting all existing and projected orders.

Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area, said: “Patria is pleased with the smooth and rapid progress of the cooperation with Valmet Automotive. While Patria’s production is at a very good level for delivering all existing and anticipated orders, we are nevertheless seeking additional capacity, especially for future demand. Technology transfer is a natural part of Patria’s business model, and this is the first and important step also in cooperation with Valmet Automotive.” His remarks highlight the role of technology transfer as a core element of Patria’s approach to international production.

Valmet Automotive described the agreement as a significant step in its strategic development and an opportunity to apply its long-established manufacturing expertise to a new product range. CEO Pasi Rannus said: “We are excited to start our cooperation with Patria. This agreement marks an important milestone in the implementation of our new strategy. We will now have the opportunity to demonstrate in practice that our decades-long contract manufacturing expertise represents an exceptionally high level of quality and is well-suited for serial production of a wide range of products. This partnership with Patria also brings together two strong domestic players.”

Patria’s Protected Mobility business, which includes the Patria 6×6, Patria AMV XP and Patria TRACKX vehicle programmes, has expanded significantly in recent years. The company has increased its own production capacity and is investing in facilities in Hämeenlinna in Finland and Valmiera in Latvia, while also promoting its technology transfer and local manufacturing model.
