The Lynx Skyranger 35 combines the mobility and protection of a modern tracked vehicle with the effectiveness of a cannon-based air defence system. It is equipped with a KDG 35/1000 revolver cannon in 35 mm x 228 calibre, firing 1,000 rounds per minute with an effective range of up to 4,000 metres.
Thanks to AHEAD technology, the system is airburst-capable, making it suitable for mobile ground-based air defence for heavy armoured formations. Rheinmetall states that in the future the vehicle will also be able to integrate modern guided missiles.
According to the company, the Lynx Skyranger 35 is designed for today’s dynamic battlefield and provides strong performance against drones, helicopters and precision-guided munitions at short and very short ranges. As part of the Lynx family, it ensures logistical efficiency through platform compatibility and is described as “the ideal solution for mobile air defence measures.”
The Lynx KF41 combat vehicle family has been developed to meet current and future requirements with maximum modularity. Its open electronic architecture, scalable weight concept and the largest protected interior volume in its class are intended to ensure growth potential for future technologies and mission profiles.
Alongside the Skyranger 35, Rheinmetall also markets the Skyranger 30 system as a hybrid solution featuring a 30mm x 173 KCE revolver cannon, surface-to-air guided missiles and dedicated sensor technology. With its 30mm airburst ammunition, it is particularly suited to Counter-UAS missions.
Several EU and NATO members, including Hungary, Austria, Germany and Denmark, have opted for Rheinmetall’s mobile air defence solutions. In 2024, Austria, Germany and Denmark placed large-volume orders, with deliveries based on the Boxer 8×8 for Germany and on different wheeled platforms for Austria and Denmark.
