According to Romanian media reports, the Romanian defence ministry has submitted a request to the parliament for approval for this order.
Bucharest plans that 12 of the 54 Abrams M1A2 tanks will be supplied from the U.S. Army’s stocks, while 42 tanks will be produced by American defence technology company General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS), the manufacturer of Abrams tanks.
According to media reports, the value of the future contract may reach as much EUR 100 million. This amount includes the ammunition and simulators for Abrams tanks.
