Saab is highlighting solutions such as GlobalEye and the Gripen E fighter, which the company describes as force multipliers for operational air power superiority. It will also serve as a gold sponsor at the Dubai International Air Chiefs’ Conference.
A model of the Gripen E will be displayed on the Dubai stand for the first time, with Saab noting that the aircraft is built to handle evolving and advanced future threats. The company says the design supports success and survivability in a shifting global environment.
GlobalEye will also appear at the show as what Saab calls the world’s most advanced AEW&C solution and a strategic national asset for peace, crisis and conflict. The system, which first entered service with the UAE Air Force and Air Defence, provides simultaneous air, maritime and ground surveillance in one platform.
Saab will present Coast Control Radar and DeployNet, both developed through cooperation with the UAE’s Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement. Visitors can learn how these systems support protection of waterways and secure communications for military operations by speaking with staff at the stand.
Heléne Bittmann, Managing Director of Saab in the UAE, said: “Now more than ever, protecting the sovereignty of airspace is foremost in the minds of many. Saab’s expertise in airborne and ground systems that protect and defend national airspace are central to our Dubai Airshow presence. Our solutions contribute significantly to national security and will be very much part of our discussions with potential customers. We are committed to our partners in the region and look forward to meeting our customers and engaging with stakeholders from the UAE and beyond.”
The Giraffe 1X multifunctional radar will also be on display, demonstrating its simultaneous air surveillance, ground based air defence and drone detection capabilities. Saab says the system helps create time to act during fast-paced operational scenarios.
The company will further showcase its civil and military digital tower family, including the Deployable Digital Tower designed for rapid set-up. Saab states that the tower can be mission ready within an hour and controlled remotely from a secure location or a centralised facility hundreds of miles away, improving safety for deployed personnel.
Other highlighted technologies include Saab’s Arexis Electronic Warfare system for Gripen E and Eurofighter EK, along with countermeasure systems that detect and counter hostile weapon systems.
