Saab: keel laying ceremony for the second SIGINT ship to Poland

The keel laying ceremony for second of the two new Polish signals intelligence ships took place on January 23 at Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A., located in Gdansk, Poland. The event was attended by representatives from Saab, the Polish Armament Agency, the Polish Navy, Remontowa Holding and invited guests.

 

Saab was awarded the contract for designing and producing two signal intelligence ships, including the integration of advanced mission systems, for the Polish Navy on November 25, 2022. Remontowa Shipbuilding SA was subcontracted to build the ships in Poland.

“The keel laying ceremony today is an important milestone in the shipbuilding process and we appreciate the cooperation with our Polish customer the Armament Agency and our partner in this project Remontowa Holding to secure new capabilities for the Polish Navy,” said Lars Brännström, Deputy Head and Chief Marketing Office for Saab’s business area Kockums.

A SIGINT ship is used to support the acquisition of intelligence data across the full spectrum of naval intelligence capabilities. The keel laying ceremony for the first SIGINT ship took place on 27 July 2023.

 

Saab opens new office in Gdańsk, Poland

The new office of Saab Technologies Poland Sp. z o.o. in Gdansk was officially opened on 23 January 2024 directly after the successful keel laying ceremony of the second of the two SIGINT ships.

The new office in Gdansk will mainly focus on project management support as well as further strengthens Saab’s local presence in Poland.

At the same time the industrial cooperation with the partner and the ship building subcontractor for the two SIGINT ships Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Gdansk will be further strengthened. Saab Technologies now has a total of eight operational sites in Poland.
