Slovak Armed Forces take delivery of third Leopard 2A4 tank from Germany

By Defence Industry Europe

In accordance with the delivery schedule, the Slovak Armed Forces have received another Leopard 2A4 tank. This marks the third tank received as part of the donation from Germany, serving as a replacement for the 30 infantry fighting vehicles (BVP-1) donated to Ukraine.

Before its handover, this tank, like all others that have been or will be delivered to Slovakia, underwent comprehensive repairs at Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH.

As part of the delivery process and the gradual introduction of Leopard tanks into the Slovak Armed Forces, ongoing tests of training ammunition for this type of equipment are being conducted at the Záhorie Military Technical and Testing Institute. Following this, the crews will undergo training provided by Bundeswehr personnel at the Lešť Training Center later this summer.

The remaining 12 tanks will be delivered to the Slovak Armed Forces periodically by the end of the year.
