Slovakia orders 155mm artillery ammunition in a EUR 120 million deal

By Defence Industry Europe

The Slovak Ministry of Defence signed a contract with ZVS Holding, a subsidiary of MSM Group, for the supply of 155m artillery ammunition for the Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers.

According to the EU Tender Electronic Daily (TED), the contract is valued at EUR 122 million and is scheduled to be concluded within 48 months. However, the number of artillery shells to be produced by ZVS Holding for the Slovak Armed Forces has not been disclosed.

Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers are manufactured by the Slovak company Konstrukta Defence, a subsidiary of DMD Group.

Zuzana 2 artillery systems are currently operated by the Slovak Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. By 2023, Slovakia had handed over eight Zuzana 2 howitzers to Ukraine. However, in July 2023, Ukraine placed an order for an additional 16 artillery systems. This order is set to be jointly financed by Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
