Konstrukta Defence delivers two Zuzana 2 howitzers to Ukraine

By Defence Industry Europe

On August 1, Slovak defense company Konstrukta Defence, a subsidiary of the state-owned DMD Group, delivered two combat-proven Zuzana 2 artillery systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the first delivery of modern 155mm howitzers performed under the contract for 16 of these artillery systems signed in 2022.

The agreement for the 16 Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery systems for Ukraine was signed in October 2022. This batch of howitzers is jointly funded by Germany, Denmark, and Norway. “Konstrukta Defence is currently engaged in a full-scale production process to fulfill its commitments under the contract for the delivery of 16 units of Zuzana 2 to Ukraine,” the Slovak company said on social media.

Earlier, in 2022, Konstrukta Defence delivered eight Zuzana 2 howitzers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are intensively used by Ukraine during defense operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. As of today, Ukrainians have revealed that at least one of the Zuzana 2 howitzers was destroyed by Russians.

However, as the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported, the Zuzana 2 howitzer has proven itself during full-scale real military operations. As reported by Defence Industry Europe, officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that this howitzer performs well on the frontlines with high accuracy, efficiency, and mobility.

Furthermore, Konstrukta Defence is one of the strategic partners of the Ukrainian defense industry. The Slovak company cooperates with the Ukrainian side on modern and tailored artillery solutions to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army. One example of this cooperation is a project aimed at adapting the Eva 155mm self-propelled howitzer to the requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
