Saab has received an order worth approximately SEK 1 billion from the Swedish Defence Materiel Agency (FMV) for a new launch system for the Gripen C/D and Gripen E fighter aircraft. The order is part of a series production and follows an option included in an existing contract covering the system’s development and integration.

The launch system plays a key role in carrying air-to-air missiles and countermeasure pods on both Gripen variants. It is mounted on the aircraft’s weapons pylons and features an advanced connection between the launcher and the aircraft to support operational effectiveness.

“The launch system is an important part in order for us to continue ensuring the availability of Gripen and supporting the Swedish Air Force’s capabilities,” says Lars Tossman, head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area. The system will help maintain and enhance the Swedish Air Force’s readiness and mission capability.
