Aster 15

MBDA, a European leader in missile technology, has taken a significant step forward in air defence with the successful first firing of the Aster B1NT (New Technology) interceptor. The test took place on 8th October 2024 at the Biscarrosse DGA missile testing facility in France and was conducted by the French General Directorate of Armaments (DGA). The event was attended by key figures, including French Minister of Armed Forces and Veteran Affairs Sébastien Lecornu, alongside representatives from France, Italy, and the UK, who are involved in the Principal Anti Air Missile Systems (PAAMS) cooperation.

European defence industry to boost production of Aster 15 and Aster 30 missiles

OCCAR has signed Amendment 15 to the FSAF-PAAMS Sustainment & Enhancement (S&E) Contract, increasing and accelerating the production of Aster missiles.

The French Navy has successfully launched air defence missiles from two of its warships, the air defence frigate Chevalier Paul and the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle. This operation took place just hours before the ships departed for the AKILA mission.

The French Navy has successfully launched air defence missiles from two of its warships, the air defence frigate Chevalier Paul and the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.

The French Navy recently conducted an exercise, showcasing the firing of an Aster 15 missile from the air defence frigate Forbin against a simulated subsonic missile target Banshee Jet 80 (BJ80).
