The Slovenian Army, in collaboration with a consortium of Slovenian defence industry companies and led by Valhalla Turrets, successfully conducted the first test firing of the Mangart 25 air defence system. The test took place at the Bač firing range, showcasing the system integrated on the Perun 4x4 vehicle and the Loki 762 weapon station mounted on the light reconnaissance nuclear, radiological, chemical, and biological defence (NRBC) vehicle Cobra 4x4.

QinetiQ GmbH has successfully delivered a new form of Air Combat Training for the Slovenian Armed Forces, using live ammunition against physical targets.

Within the European Sky Shield Initative (ESSI), Diehl Defence signed a purchase contract on the procurement of the medium-range air defence system IRIS-T SLM with the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) on January 25. Annette Lehnigk-Emden, President of the BAAINBw, agreed with Helmut Rauch, CEO of Diehl Defence, on behalf of and with a power of attorney from the Republic of Slovenia on the procurement of the ground-based air defence system for the European NATO partner country.

The purchase order includes one fire unit, consisting of the components radar, tactical operations center and four missile launchers as well as IRIS-T SL guided missiles and logistic support.

This year marks 20 years since - on 29 March 2004 - Slovenia joined NATO, and the country has been part of NATO’s Integrated Air and Missile Defence System (NATINAMDS). The system ensures the continuous exchange of airspace information with the Alliance and the protection of Slovenian airspace by Allied and Slovenian military interceptor aircraft as Slovenia's Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) monitors and controls the country's airspace 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Leonardo has delivered to the Slovenian Ministry of Defence the first of two C-27J Next Generation aircraft, contracted following the Italy-Slovenia Government-to-Government (G2G) Agreement, which was signed on 17 November 2021.
