The Centauro II first choice the new armoured vehicle for the Brazilian Army

The Brazilian Army has chosen the Centauro II 120 mm system made by a consortium of Iveco Defence Vehicles and Oto Melara (Leonardo's subsidiary) as top of the list within the procurement process named Viatura Blindada de Cavalaria Média Sobre Rodas (VBC Cav - MSR 8x8), the consortium wrote in a press statement.

The Centauro II armoured vehicle is a wheeled 8×8 system fitted with 120 mm armament, representing the top in the sector in terms of power, observation, mobility, ergonomics, firing performance, communication and crew protection.

The initial supply of 96 armored vehicles, for an amount of around 900 million euros, will be able to reach a total of 220 vehicles, for a value of around 2 billion euros”, the Italian embassy in Brazil added in a statement.

According to the Italian Ambassador Francesco Azzarello “once again the extraordinary excellence of Italian technology, recognized worldwide, has been confirmed. And once again the quality of bilateral cooperation in the military sector, which has lasted for forty years, is confirmed significant investments in Brazil”.
