The contract supports expeditionary logistics, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and maritime security operations at the tactical edge. It gives Special Operations Forces access to commercial, non-developmental technology rated at Technology Readiness Level 9.
Sea Machines said the kits can be installed within hours on vessels with different sizes and performance specifications. That approach allows forces to adapt available craft to specific missions, operational areas and objectives.
The kits are powered by Sea Machines’ proprietary Autonomous Command and Control system. The company describes the technology as a “drop-in” capability that avoids the need to develop a dedicated autonomous vessel for each requirement.
Demand for uncrewed vessels and maritime autonomy systems is rising among defense forces, according to Sea Machines. The company identified the Arabian Gulf, the Indo-Pacific and the Baltic as regions where such systems can help naval commanders detect, track and neutralize threats without exposing sailors or high-value maritime assets.
