By Defence Industry Europe

The United Kingdom has pledged to supply Ukraine with 650 Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) systems as part of a GBP 162 million air defence package aimed at bolstering Ukraine's defence capabilities. This announcement was made by Defence Secretary John Healey MP during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) meeting at the US Air Force Base in Ramstein.

The commitment, which is a part of the UK Government’s broader support strategy for Ukraine, underscores the UK’s ongoing dedication to assisting Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. During the 24th meeting of the UDCG, Healey reiterated the UK’s steadfast support for Ukraine and called on other allies to continue supplying essential military equipment to aid the Ukrainian war effort.

This announcement follows a bilateral meeting earlier this week in London between John Healey and Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov. During their discussions, the UK reaffirmed its intent to accelerate aid deliveries in the coming months. In addition to the missile systems, the Defence Secretary confirmed that GBP 300 million worth of artillery ammunition is slated for delivery to Ukraine by the end of the year.
