Ukraine and Norway’s Kongsberg to enhance air defence cooperation

By Defence Industry Europe

Ukraine and Norwegian defence company Kongsberg are planning to integrate Ukrainian air defence solutions into the NASAMS platform. This development was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace CEO Eirik Lie.

Minister Umerov highlighted the growing partnership with Kongsberg, which, alongside American company Raytheon, supplies NASAMS air defence systems to Ukraine. These systems have been instrumental in protecting Ukrainian cities from aerial attacks during the ongoing conflict.

The discussions focused on improving the effectiveness of NASAMS by incorporating domestic Ukrainian air defence capabilities. Both parties also explored anti-drone systems and the potential for localising their production in Ukraine.

Additionally, the development of naval capabilities for Ukraine’s Defence Forces was a key topic of discussion. This aligns with broader efforts to enhance the country’s defensive infrastructure across multiple domains.
