By Defence Industry Europe

During a working visit to Warsaw, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The discussions focused on Ukraine’s military needs and ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Umerov thanked Poland for its continued support, highlighting the latest military aid package provided by the Polish government. He also acknowledged Poland’s role in assisting Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed to continue military aid deliveries through Poland. Poland serves as a key logistical route for military assistance to Ukraine.

The two sides also discussed further cooperation under the ‘Czech Initiative,’ which aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities. The initiative involves coordinated efforts among European partners to provide military assistance.

Another key area of discussion was the development of joint ventures in the defence industry. The potential establishment of these ventures in either Ukraine or Poland is intended to enhance military production capabilities.

Military training cooperation was also addressed, with Poland having already trained over 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Both sides agreed to expand training efforts to further develop the capabilities of Ukrainian forces.

In the coming days, Minister Umerov will continue discussions with other European partners. The focus of these meetings will be on securing urgent military supplies and advancing long-term security projects.
