Ukraine codifies and deploys Oncilla-Shturm armoured personnel carrier for combat operations

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has officially codified and approved the domestically produced Oncilla-Shturm armoured personnel carrier for service. Designed to perform a wide range of operational tasks, the vehicle marks a significant advancement in Ukraine's defence capabilities.

 

The Oncilla-Shturm accommodates a three-person crew and six riflemen, offering substantial transport capacity. Equipped with an automatic transmission and a powerful turbo-diesel engine, the vehicle boasts excellent mobility and speed, with a fuel range exceeding 700 kilometres.

Its armour and structural features ensure protection for the crew and troops against small arms fire, shrapnel, and explosive devices. Deputy Defence Minister Dmytro Klimenkov highlighted the vehicle’s importance, stating, “The Oncilla-Shturm demonstrates Ukraine’s progress in developing equipment that meets the modern needs of the battlefield. Its reliability and functionality enable our forces to complete missions under high-stress conditions, ensuring personnel safety and operational effectiveness.”

Standard features include an automatic tyre inflation system, hydraulic power steering, air conditioning with heating capabilities, an automatic fire suppression system, a filtration-ventilation system, and a winch. The Oncilla-Shturm is armed with a remotely operated combat module equipped with a heavy machine gun, enhancing its combat readiness.

The vehicle can be manufactured in several modifications, offering flexibility to meet various mission requirements.
