The agreement includes the purchase of 205 CV90 vehicles in total. Of these, 115 units will go to Denmark, 50 will replace vehicles in Sweden’s inventory that were previously donated to Ukraine, and 40 will be newly manufactured and delivered to Ukraine. The funding for Ukraine’s vehicles comes from earlier military support contributions by Denmark and Sweden.
“These investments will enable more Swedish combat vehicles to make Europe – and particularly Ukraine – safer,” said Swedish Minister for Defence Pål Jonson. He also emphasised the value of Sweden’s defence industry in strengthening both national and regional security.
The CV9035 MkIIIC variant is known for its advanced features, including improved situational awareness, mobility, and protection against enemy attacks. The vehicle has been effectively used in combat and is noted for saving soldiers’ lives during engagements, according to reports from the field in Ukraine.
The CV90 system has been adopted by 10 countries, including Czechia, Finland, the Netherlands, and Norway. Sweden previously donated 50 CV90 vehicles to Ukraine earlier this year, and the additional 40 vehicles in this agreement are funded as part of Sweden’s fifteenth support package to Ukraine.
