Among the key elements included in the package are four NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems) medium-range air defence systems, alongside Phoenix Ghost and Switchblade Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
NASAMS has been operational in Ukraine since November 2022, with the initial systems being delivered amid Russia’s extensive missile campaign targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The system’s efficacy is heightened by the abundance of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles used in NATO countries, making it a valuable addition to Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
The U.S. government emphasized its commitment to fortifying Ukraine’s capacity to “defend its territory and deter Russian aggression over the mid and long term.”
