Weibel Scientific and DefSecIntel Solutions announce strategic partnership to enhance European defence capabilities

By Defence Industry Europe

Danish radar specialist Weibel Scientific and Estonian defence technology firm DefSecIntel Solutions have announced a strategic partnership to enhance Europe’s air defence and counter-drone capabilities. The agreement was signed at Weibel’s headquarters in Allerød, Denmark, in the presence of Estonia’s Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Andre Pung.

The collaboration aims to integrate Weibel’s advanced radar systems with DefSecIntel’s command and control (C2), surveillance, and counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) platforms, including the EIRSHIELD system. This partnership is designed to address critical defence needs across Ukraine, the European Union, and NATO-aligned initiatives such as Eastern Shield and the Baltic Drone Wall.

“Weibel Scientific has long been at the forefront of radar innovation, and this partnership allows us to extend our expertise into a fully integrated defence ecosystem,” said Peter Røpke, CEO of Weibel Scientific. “By working with DefSecIntel, we can create scalable and highly effective solutions for both European and global defence challenges.”

Estonia, known for its leadership in defence innovation, has played a key role in the Eastern Shield Drone Wall initiative aimed at strengthening European security. The partnership reinforces a shared commitment to maintaining technological sovereignty and operational superiority within Europe.

“This partnership is about more than technology—it is about ensuring that European defence solutions remain independent, innovative, and built to meet real operational needs,” said Jaanus Tamm, CEO of DefSecIntel Solutions. “We need European solutions, as air defence and C-UAS have been critical capability gaps. Together, we are setting new standards for integrated air defence and counter-drone solutions, like our system EIRSHIELD Dome.”

The agreement outlines several key areas of cooperation, including the integration of Weibel’s X-band radars into DefSecIntel’s EIRSHIELD systems. It also supports EU and NATO security objectives through alignment with initiatives like Sky Shield and Eastern Shield.

Manufacturing will be based in Europe and Ukraine, ensuring rapid, cost-effective production supported by EU investment and industrial programmes. The companies will also collaborate on research and development, combining radar expertise and operational testing to push technological boundaries.

A dedicated task force will oversee the integration process, with the goal of accelerating deployment of the systems across Europe and Ukraine. Both firms aim to expand their reach within strategic procurement programmes and contribute to a stronger, more agile European defence posture.
