Participating countries included Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, who competed using main battle tanks such as the Leopard 2 and Challenger 2. Crews were evaluated on gunnery accuracy, manoeuvre coordination, and performance under simulated battlefield conditions.
“Iron Spear 2025 is a powerful demonstration of NATO’s strength, unity, and preparedness on Latvia’s soil,” said a NATO spokesperson. The competition not only tested individual and team skills, but also reinforced the Alliance’s collective defence posture.
By operating together in demanding combat scenarios, NATO forces highlighted their ability to function as a cohesive, integrated force. Beyond the competitive aspect, the exercise underscored NATO’s enduring commitment to security and stability in the region.
