Missile Defense Agency selects Saab’s U.S. subsidiary for SHIELD program under IDIQ contract

The United States and Germany have announced plans for the deployment of advanced long-range fires capabilities in Germany. This decision was outlined in a joint statement following discussions ahead of the NATO Summit.

Saab, Inc. has been selected by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency for the Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. The award covers a broad range of work areas intended to enable the rapid delivery of innovative missile defense capabilities to the warfighter with increased speed and agility.

 

Under the SHIELD framework, Saab will be eligible to compete for future task orders during the contract’s period of performance. The company stated that it has not yet received any orders or signed contracts for deliveries related to the program.

He added, “By bringing together advanced sensors, command and control, and rapid integration expertise, we execute at the pace the mission demands—helping accelerate capability delivery and stay ahead of evolving and complex threats.”



Saab, headquartered in Sweden, designs, manufactures, and sustains advanced systems across domains including aeronautics, weapons, command and control, sensors, and underwater systems, supported by a global workforce of about 27,000 employees. Its U.S.-based subsidiary, Saab, Inc., headquartered in Syracuse, New York, supports the U.S. Armed Forces and other partners and is expanding domestic production capacity through the construction of a new munitions facility.
