The Penguin Mk3 builds on Redwire’s existing Penguin series, which the company said is fielded globally and known for endurance, modular payload architecture and operational reliability. The new version adds greater modularity, mission adaptability and growth capacity to meet a wider range of requirements across NATO and allied forces.
“This program reflects Redwire’s heritage of bringing a forward-looking approach to tactical UAS modernization for NATO allies,” said Steve Adlich, President of Redwire Defense Tech.
“Penguin Mk3 builds on years of operational, combat experience to deliver a scalable, adaptable solution aligned with the demands of modern defense environments,” Adlich added.
Redwire said programme execution and long-term sustainment will be supported through its European operations. The company said regional engineering, programme management and sustainment expertise will be used to support operational readiness and long-term customer support.
The Penguin UAS has been used in contested environments and was named in U.S. security assistance packages for Ukraine in July 2023 and December 2024. Redwire said it has delivered more than 250 combat-proven Penguin aircraft directly to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The company said those systems have been deployed in one of the world’s most challenging contested environments, where drone technology is influencing modern warfare. Redwire said its broader defence portfolio includes uncrewed aerial systems, advanced optics and resilient energy solutions for defence agencies, civilian federal agencies and allied governments.
Redwire said it has nearly three decades of technology heritage and manufacturing expertise. The company said its defence systems are developed to meet real-world mission requirements.
