On April 16, Slovak Defence Minister Robert Kalinak said the system has already been in the country for around ten days. He added that it will take several weeks before the battery becomes fully operational.
Kalinak said the deployed battery is positioned at a specific strategic location. “The battery of the Israeli system is located at a certain ‘point of intersection between our nuclear power plants’,” he said.
The minister noted that further support will be provided as the system is integrated. He said weapons system experts will arrive in Slovakia, while Slovak soldiers have already completed part of their training.
Slovakia is set to receive a total of six batteries under the contract. All units are expected to be delivered by 2030 as part of a phased implementation plan.
“It is a somewhat more complicated issue for me to explain precisely, as there have been significant delays in the production of these systems,” Kalinak said.
