BAE Systems has signed a licensing agreement with Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A. (WZM) to support the maintenance of M88A2 Armoured Recovery Vehicles operated by the Polish Land Forces. WZM, part of the PGZ Capital Group, is a key player in Poland’s defence sector, specialising in tracked armoured vehicle sustainment.

The agreement will allow WZM to carry out maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services using BAE Systems’ intellectual property. This initiative aims to ensure that the Polish Army’s M88A2 vehicles remain fully operational and mission-ready.

“This relationship enables the timely sustainment of critical recovery vehicles, supporting the Polish government’s efforts to strengthen its defence industrial base and promote local economies,” said Dean Medland, Vice President of Sustainment & International Programmes at BAE Systems. “We understand the importance of working together with local industry in allied nations. This is an exciting example of how we can create a more responsive regional support network in addition to the critical manufacturing base in the United States.”

The M88A2 is specifically designed to recover heavy armoured vehicles on the battlefield, including the 70-ton M1 Abrams tank. Featuring enhanced engine power, improved armour, and advanced recovery tools, it plays a vital role in supporting frontline operations.
