Boeing commences production of P-8A Poseidon aircraft for Germany

The American aerospace and defence giant, Boeing, has officially started the production of maritime patrol aircraft P-8A Poseidon intended for Germany.

 

In total, Germany will receive eight P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The contracts for their purchase were signed in 2021 (five aircraft) and in 2023 (three aircraft).

The production, which Boeing has just begun, pertains to the aircraft contracted in 2021. The first of these is to be delivered to Germany within 2024.

According to the schedule of the contract from 2023, the last of the eight P-8A aircraft will be delivered in 2028.

 

 

So far, Boeing has delivered 200 P-8 Poseidon aircraft, which are operated in the United States, Australia, India, the United Kingdom, Norway, and New Zealand. This year, deliveries to the Republic of Korea are planned to commence.

In Europe, they are currently operated by the United Kingdom and Norway. Apart from the Federal Republic of Germany, there is also interest in purchasing from, among others, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
