CAVS expansion: Denmark signs final agreements and procures 129 Patria armoured vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

Denmark has formally completed its integration into the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. The country signed the final three agreements — the R&D Agreement, the Frame Agreement, and the Life Cycle Management (LCM) Agreement — marking its full commitment to the initiative.

These agreements follow Denmark’s signing of the Technical Arrangement with other participating countries in April 2025. As a result, Denmark has now ordered 129 CAVS 6×6 armoured vehicles based on the Patria 6×6 platform.

The first deliveries of the vehicles are scheduled for later this year. Denmark joins Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany as the fifth country in the CAVS programme.

“Patria is very pleased to see that now also Denmark has moved to the serial procurement phase,” said Mats Warstedt, Vice President, Market Area Nordics of Patria. “The speedy and swift progress of Denmark taking all needed steps within the CAVS programme has been an excellent example of current multinational cooperation as it should be, targeting to increased interoperability and the security of supply between allied nations.”

The CAVS programme is led by Finnish defence company Patria, which has over 40 years of experience in delivering and supporting advanced protected troop transport and systems integration. The programme emphasises local industrial involvement in each participating nation, thereby strengthening the security of supply across the alliance.

“CAVS programme continues to be a prime example for creating the desired common defence capabilities in a quick and cost-effective manner,” Warstedt added. To date, Patria has received orders for nearly 1,000 Patria 6×6 vehicles, with more than 200 already delivered.

The programme remains open to other nations with compatible defence requirements, subject to the agreement of current members. Patria will showcase the CAVS 6×6 armoured vehicle at Denmark’s largest defence industry event, the DALO Industry Days in Ballerup, on 20–21 August 2025.
