Dutch military support to Ukraine nears EUR 6 billion

By Defence Industry Europe

The Netherlands has provided nearly EUR 5.88 billion in military aid to Ukraine as of 4 February. This figure reflects an increase of EUR 2.12 billion since September 2024, covering both equipment and supplies.

Among the support, the Netherlands has delivered F-16 fighter jets, armoured combat vehicles, and air defence systems. Additional provisions include drones, radar systems, tank and artillery ammunition, individual weapons such as machine guns, and military transport vehicles like quads and Mercedes-Benz jeeps.

Beyond material aid, the Netherlands has contributed to Ukraine’s military training efforts. Last year, 255 Dutch troops were deployed in Germany and 350 in the United Kingdom to train Ukrainian soldiers.

Ukraine has an urgent need for large quantities of military equipment, but high demand has led to rising prices and extended delivery times. The production of weapons and vehicles is struggling to keep pace, prompting the Netherlands to push for increased defence industry output.

To address these challenges, the Dutch Ministry of Defence is working to scale up production capacity. Efforts include initiatives like the Drone Action Plan, which aims to enhance the supply of critical defence systems.
