Hanwha Aerospace delivers first K239 Chunmoo launcher to Poland

By Defence Industry Europe

The first K239 Chunmoo launcher, manufactured by the South Korean defence company Hanwha Aerospace, has arrived in Poland. This marks the beginning of the delivery process for the 218 launchers of this MLRS system contracted by Poland last year.

It’s noteworthy that the first K239 Chunmoo launcher delivered to Poland is integrated with a wheeled chassis manufactured by the Polish defence company Jelcz, a subsidiary of the Polish Armament Group (PGZ).

Poland’s Armament Agency stated that the next step involves integrating the K239 Chunmoo launcher with the TOPAZ fire control system, developed by another Polish defence company, the WB Group.

According to Poland’s Armament Agency, another 17 K239 Chunmoo launchers will be delivered to Poland this year.

In November 2022, Poland signed a USD 3.55 billion contract with the South Korean defence company Hanwha Aerospace for 218 K239 Chunmoo launchers, along with a logistics and training package, an unspecified number of missiles with a range of up to 80km, and tactical ballistic missiles with a range of up to 290km.

The agreement includes collaboration with the Polish defence industry. All K239 Chunmoo launchers ordered by Poland will be integrated with wheeled chassis manufactured by the local industry and with a TOPAZ fire control system.
