According to IAG, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new production facility in Burgas will take place on March 15.
“We are glad to have the opportunity to expand our international family with production in Bulgaria, where we invest not only in innovations in defence, but also in specialists that our country needs. With the start of construction, we will mark a key moment in the development of this important project, which will have such a positive impact on Bulgarian industrial production,” IAG owner and CEO Anton Stefov said.
It will be the largest IAG’s production facility worldwide, with an area of 150,00 sqm. More than 300 people will find work there.
According to IAG, the Burgas plant will produce the entire product range of the company, including the new Rila 8×8 infantry fighting vehicle.
The opening of the IAG’s production plant in Burgas will be a significant moment in the history of the Bulgarian defence industry, which has never before produced armoured vehicles in accordance with NATO standards.
The facility in Bulgaria will also produce the new IAG’s products, such as carriers for the artillery systems.
