The Keiler NG features a full-width mine plough, complemented by Rheinmetall’s Plofadder Mine Clearing Line Charge (MICLIC). This system can clear a path of at least 160 metres long and 9 metres wide by firing an explosive line from the rear of the vehicle, which detonates to remove large-scale mine barriers. The lanes created by the Keiler NG are made visible to following forces, even in poor visibility or night conditions.
In addition to its mobility and clearing functions, the Keiler NG offers active and passive protection measures, including a magnetic signature duplicator to safely initiate mines from a distance. The vehicle also has a front-end interface for attaching the plough, equipped with an emergency ejection mechanism. The Keiler NG can independently assemble the plough using its crane and resupply itself with ammunition or additional Plofadder systems.
With a high degree of compatibility with other vehicles like the Kodiak and Leopard 2, the Keiler NG benefits from enhanced mobility, simplified logistics, and reduced verification requirements. Future upgrades for the vehicle could include an active protection system, remote or autonomous operation, and mesh network communication.
The Keiler NG represents Rheinmetall’s latest innovation in armoured breaching technology, aimed at enhancing battlefield efficiency and safety.
