KNDS Deutschland introduces Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 main battle tank

By Defence Industry Europe

During the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition in Paris, KNDS Deutschland will unveil its latest innovation in military technology: the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 main battle tank.

Equipped with a modular, automatic linear loader, the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 can handle calibers ranging from 120 to 140 mm. This flexibility ensures superior firepower and adaptability in various combat scenarios. The innovative weapon mount design prevents the main gun from intruding into the hull, allowing for optimal use of space within the chassis.

The tank’s firepower is further bolstered by a guided missile system capable of engaging targets beyond line of sight, even while on the move. Additionally, a remote-controlled 30 mm weapon system provides effective defence against near-field and aerial threats, making the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 a formidable presence on the battlefield.

In addition to its passive armor, the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 incorporates a proven active protection system and a remote-controlled weapon station designed to counter drone threats. These features collectively offer a robust defence against modern warfare challenges, enhancing both the tank’s survivability and combat effectiveness.

The Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 is designed with mobility and sustainability in mind. Its advanced protection technologies not only ensure crew safety but also contribute to the tank’s overall sustainability in prolonged operations. KNDS’s innovative approach significantly enhances the mobility and assertiveness of the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0, making it a versatile asset in various combat environments.

Despite its cutting-edge features, the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 maintains full backwards compatibility with existing Leopard 2 variants. This means that any Leopard 2 currently in service can be upgraded to the A-RC 3.0 standard, providing a cost-effective modernization path for current operators. KNDS’s modular approach allows for tailored solutions to meet specific customer requirements, ensuring flexibility and scalability.
